In my readings of these articles, specifically on William Byrd, slave master. I, myself found these articles to be very distressing. Not only were his slaves mis handle and mistreatd, but it sees that his children were treated poorly as well. Learning about historical experience makes me appreciate that we have laws and people arent treated inhumane. Although slaves exhibited mates active and unresisting responses, I feel that the majority were supine. From what I read in Harriet Jacobs diary was that the slave owners were very pitch-black and treated them with little to no respect at all.
